Safety standards are currently being developed in many industries to enable increasing levels of autonomy. For autonomous port machinery, domain-specific standards are not readily available. This makes it important to follow the field of standardisation and to identify relevant key standards to guide development.

A recently published article provides an overview of safety standards for various mobile machines (see picture below) and the safety strategies proposed in these standards. The paper is freely available online:
